User Profiles
Understanding user profiles and account features on OpenGiving.
User Profiles
Your OpenGiving profile represents your identity on the platform. It shows your giving history, campaigns, and community involvement.
Profile Components
Basic Information
Your profile displays:
- Display name - How you appear to others
- Avatar - Your profile picture
- Bio - A short description about you
- Location - City/region (optional)
- Member since - When you joined
Activity Summary
Visible to others:
- Campaigns you've created
- Total donated (if public)
- Items bought/sold
- Badges earned
Setting Up Your Profile
Adding a Photo
- Go to Settings > Profile
- Click on the avatar area
- Upload an image
- Crop and save
Profiles with photos get 50% more engagement than those without.
Writing Your Bio
Your bio can include:
- Why you're on OpenGiving
- Causes you care about
- A bit about yourself
Keep it friendly and appropriate (500 character limit).
Privacy Settings
Control what others can see:

Public vs Private Profiles
Public profiles:
- Anyone can view your activity
- Shows donation history
- Displays badges and achievements
Private profiles:
- Basic info only visible
- Activity hidden from others
- You're still shown on donor lists (unless anonymous)
Account Security
Two-Factor Authentication
Add extra security:
- Go to Settings > Security
- Enable 2FA
- Choose method (app or SMS)
- Complete setup
Connected Accounts
Link your accounts:
- Apple
Password Management
- Change password in Settings
- Use a strong, unique password
- Consider a password manager
