Listing Items for Sale
Selling items on the OpenGiving marketplace is a great way to support campaigns you care about.
Before Listing
Ensure your item:
- Is in the condition described
- Is legal to sell
- Can be shipped safely
- Doesn't violate our guidelines
Creating a Listing
Step 1: Start Your Listing
- Click "Sell" in the navigation
- Select "Create New Listing"
- Choose the campaign to support
Step 2: Item Details

Step 3: Add Photos
Listings with 3+ photos sell 2x faster on average.
Photo tips:
- Use good lighting
- Show multiple angles
- Include any flaws
- Show size reference
- Use a clean background
Step 4: Shipping Information
Set up shipping details:
- Shipping cost - Flat rate or calculated
- Processing time - How long to ship
- Shipping methods - Carriers you'll use
- Ships from - Your location
Step 5: Select Campaign
Choose where proceeds go:
- Your own campaign
- Someone else's campaign you want to support
- General fund (if no specific campaign)
Pricing Guidelines
Consider these factors:
- Original item value
- Current condition
- Shipping costs
- Similar items on the marketplace
Price fairly - overpriced items rarely sell, underpriced items may seem suspicious.
After Your Item Sells
- You'll receive a notification
- Package the item securely
- Ship within your stated processing time
- Upload tracking information
- Wait for buyer confirmation
- Funds release to the campaign
Prohibited Items
The following cannot be sold:
- Weapons or ammunition
- Alcohol or tobacco
- Counterfeit goods
- Hazardous materials
- Stolen property
- Adult content
- Living animals
