Donating on OpenGiving is simple, secure, and transparent. Here's everything you need to know about supporting campaigns.

How to Donate

One-Time Donation

1. Find a campaign you want to support
2. Click "Donate"
3. Enter your donation amount
4. Choose to donate anonymously (optional)
5. Add a message (optional)
6. Complete payment

Recurring Donations

Set up monthly giving:

1. Click "Donate Monthly"
2. Choose your monthly amount
3. Complete the initial payment
4. Manage in My Donations

Donation Options

Preset Amounts

Quick buttons for common amounts:

• $10, $25, $50, $100

Custom Amount

Enter any amount you choose:

• Minimum: $1
• No maximum limit

Anonymous Donations

If you prefer privacy:

• Your name won't appear publicly
• Campaign creator still receives basic info
• You'll still get a receipt

Donation Messages

Add a personal note:

• Shown to campaign creator
• Can be displayed publicly (your choice)
• Limited to 500 characters

After Donating

Confirmation

You'll receive:

• On-screen confirmation
• Email receipt
• Transaction record in your account

Receipts

All donations generate receipts showing:

• Amount donated
• Campaign name
• Date and time
• Payment method (last 4 digits)

Refund Policy

Donations are generally non-refundable because:

• Funds may already be disbursed
• Campaign creator may have made commitments

However, refunds may be considered if:

• Campaign is found to be fraudulent
• Technical error caused duplicate donation
• Request made within 24 hours

Contact support for refund requests.

Payment Processing

Timing

• Card charges: Immediate
• Bank transfer: 3-5 business days
• Funds available to campaign: After processing

Fees

OpenGiving takes a small platform fee:

• 5% platform fee
• 2.9% + $0.30 payment processing
• Fees are deducted from the donation

Example: $100 donation

• Platform fee: $5.00
• Processing fee: $3.20
• Campaign receives: $91.80
